The event took place at the studios of Choice 105.3 FM Community Radio in Charlestown on Monday 14 th July.
The Calypsonian Mr. Andrew Hendrickson, popularly know as "Murray" in Calypso Circles, wrote the lyrics of the song using material provided by the Department. The lyrics focus on preparedness and prevention and their importance; how property and more so lives can be saved once the necessary safety tips are followed.
At the launch, calypsonian Murray gave credit to the Director of the Department Mr. Lester Blackett, and his staff and also had high praise for Mr. Antonio Liburd of Abo's Digital Factory and his studio work with Sandra Browne who provided the backup vocals.
The Director and staff of the Disaster Management Department were pleased with the product and hoped that the project will serve its purpose of awareness to the entire population of Nevis and the wider Caribbean.
Future plans include the production of a music video; a video of the launch is already available on the Department's website at www.geocities.com/odpnevis.
Among those present at the launch were Department staff members, Mr. Lester Blackett, Project Coordinator Mr. Stephen Jones and Liaison Community Officer Mr. Allister Thompson, calypsonian Hollywood, Mr. Almond Dasent of Advantage Communications, provider and other media personnel.
Pastor Andrew Gardener of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the coordinator of the Adventist Disaster (Development) Relief Agency (ADRA) were guests on the programme.
